Struggle sparks growth.
Tension triggers creativity.

That is where my Misti Haircare story began.

After years of corporate grind, start-up uncertainty and consulting fragility, while sole and single parenting my two daughters, I was empty, frantic with the weight of providing, fearful of the sustainability of my career.

I wanted a different life, with a gentler rhythm, space to pause, to be more conscious with my girls, less stretched, less intense, lighter. I wanted the chance to create something beautiful and meaningful, something sustainable that I could call mine, ours, something that could spark glimmer moments for others, perhaps even positive shift.

In truth, I had always been searching, for good ideas, a simpler existence, more meaning.

I had always had a desire to create and build my own brand, to focus my experience of doing this for others on making something of my own. My responsibilities, self-doubt and insecurity had held me back, trapped me in what I knew, until my depletion tipped the scales. I had to believe in better, I had to embrace possibility. I felt my energy and creativity spark at the chance of a new existence.

I let life flow, played with possibilities and the idea to make Misti Haircare started to crystalize. The practice of yoga was my sanctuary, a space to be utterly present, to move and breathe, to just feel, just be. A life coaching path gifted by a friend, was a space to share, plan and create momentum, be challenged and held accountable. Things started to clarify. I wanted to make something I could see, touch and feel, something that could elevate the everyday. Family felt my passion, saw potential in my thinking and backed me.

I wanted to create something I wished for, that I couldn’t find, and to weave in a touch of yoga’s peace and blissful calm and coaching’s possibility and progress.

I’d always had a good head of hair but had struggled with my skin. I was invested in both categories, being a mom of teen daughters, passionate about skin- and hair- health and care. We’d explore shelves for exciting, affordable haircare but were often bored by limited offerings, overwhelmed by heavy “sells”, disappointed in the experience and absence of results. We were after something fresh, clean and calm, something sensory but truly effective. I explored the benefits of trending skincare actives for the hair and scalp, there were countless, as ultimately your scalp is an extension of your face, your skin. And a healthy scalp is the start of healthy hair. There was no accessible luxury, retail brand focused on harnessing the benefits of skincare actives for haircare.

There was a clear gap and Misti, Actives x Haircare was born. Out of good hair and challenging skin. Out of misting the lines between skin- and haircare and celebrating the power of skincare actives for hair health. Out of a desire for something simple, pleasurable and effective in the haircare space, a need for a calm, quiet, presence in haircare and beyond.

Misti is a space for beautiful hair: clean, active-led formulas deliver real results, sensual fine fragrances are mood-boosting, the range is simple to shop, the products are a pleasure to use and a delight to display in your bathroom. But it’s a space offering so much more than just that.

It’s a gentle reminder, from one (extra)ordinary girl to another, to be who you are, work with what you have, do what you love, and back yourself to create the life you want.

I created a soft space for myself to step into my strength. I hope Misti Haircare can offer you a little bit of that magic, starting with a delicious haircare moment that just might spark a touch of soul care.
